Hi all,

Currently, I have a D60 + 18-55mm VR and 18-105mm VR.
Got a SB-600 and Sigma 10-20mm (Just bought on ebay)

I want to upgrade to D90 as high ISO performance is better.
I don't use much live view. But I need to use it I will use it.!

I am not sure if it is a good choice to upgrade to D90.
As I always use ISO 1600 in low light situation. As I don't use external flash much.
And I would like to try the Nikon CLS thing but D60 hasn't got it!
Also I think the Lens need to have motor thing is kind of a problem to me as I want to find a wide prime lens.
Range from 20-35mm.

Can anyone advise me ?
Thanks

Kevin

The D60 does use the Nikon CLS system for flash exposure, what it does not have is the remote commander mode via the pop up flash.

Not sure if it would be enough of a step up, you may be better holding fire and see if a D400 comes out, this would lower the price of the D300, which would be a worthwhile step to take.

Yes I know that it needs at least a SB-800 or SB-600 as commandar.
That what I m thinking about. As I only have one flash therefore might want to use pop-up flash as commandar.

Thanks

You can get the SU800 commander unit, this would trigger your SB600, but they are not cheap.

It depends on how they price the D400, if it's reasonable then the D300 will drop, if it's expensive I think we'll get the same situation as the Canon 5D, demand will increase for secondhand D300s which will push prices up.

I realli don't know if I will get a D300 if D400 comes out.
Anyone can say what's good about D300 compare to D90 and D60?
Thanks

Its metal, better weathersealing, better focus system, better at higher ISO, no Portrait, Sports etc modes, 100% viewfinder .... and no video mode.

If I want a video camera I shall buy a video camera, mind this is from someone who tried to buy a mobile phone without a camera :D

I dont think I will use video mode.!:)
I dont use Portrait/Sports etc modes.
I use A mode at the moment.

Btw, anyone know how to make shutter speed lower than 1/60s when using a external flash? I am using A mode

Set your flash to rear sync. An option for you might be to get some ebay/cactus triggers, or an optical slave.

Flash speeds - set the camera to M or S instead of A. Read the manual, you'll work it out I'm sure.

D300 second hand price - search for completed listings on eBay or check the For Sale threads here, that'll get you the best impression of the market value.

Got the flash thing working. Thanks
Just went to ebay had a look
It ends from 700 pounds - 900 pounds...
Want to get that 700 pounds one.:geek:

Anyone would suggest I get a D80 for the time being first?
Then upgrade to D400 when it comes out?
But I don't know if ISO performance would be as good as D60?
As I use ISO 1600 sometimes like at home. Or should I try to use flash more?

Thanks
