I tried setting up the water drop shot again, this time I used a big baking tray with a smooth bottom to hold the water. My first attempt showed the texture of the container on the shots and I wasn't happy with it. I've also got some cheap radio triggers to fire the flash at 1/32 power. I used a 70-200 f4 IS on my 7D just so I could keep it a bit further away from the water. I used a plastic bucket with a small hole set above the baking tray with a steady drip rate. I placed a small car socket in the water so the drip landed in the centre of the socket and I focused on the outer edge of the socket. I dialled in f18, iso100 and 1/200 and used mirror lock up and remote cable release. I'm quite pleased with the result, definite improvement over my first try.

I'd love to know how you guys are setting up to do collisions as that's the next thing I want to try.

Those shots definately exploit the great IQ of the lens.
Have to say I am quite partial to #2 for the nice warm colours which also show of the sharpness of the water.

Well done with these! (y)
