You've gone for a nice eye level shot showing the right amount of background and a nice negative space for him to look into, but I'm afraid cutting the front leg off is sloppy
 
Thanks guys. I am finding that I am now starting to look closer at my composition rather than just concentrating on shutter speed and aperture. Bringing them all together is quite hard and I usually forget one of them but I will get there.

It would have been better if you had included the front foot. The head is also a touch too central for me. Apart from that, everything else is great.
 
nice image but its not a water monitor looks more like an eastern water dragon
