great shot, i really like it. But just a little too dark IMO
 
yeah, maybe the blacks are a bit too black but what a powerful photo! looks like your right in the thick of it (y)

I'm thinking of entering this photo for a competition.

What do you suggest I do to give the image a more dramatic punchy effect.

did it look nice in colour?
 
Compositionally I really like this shot. Exposure is spot on as well for the water, but perhaps a slight levels alteration to bring out the shadows?
 
Colour was good but didnt have the drama that mono offers, i'll upload it when i get home
