Water Rail, and an ID needed

It's always nice to see a Water Rail, quiet secretive little chaps! The other is a female chaffinch. Looks like quite an overcast day!

Nice one of a water rail. The other one looks like a female chaffinch.

Nicely done Andy.........especially the Water Rail(y)

I was chatting to a lady at Arundel the other day who had been trying to get that shot every day for 4 days without success!!

Nice one Andy, I haven't seen one there. good to see you are making the most of your membership too ;)

Thanks for the comments guys.
Should have a few more to post shortly........

Hi Andy its a female chaffinch, Quite a common bird really. The Water rail is another kettle of fish though, a very secretive bird and i must say you have been extremely fortunate with this one. Usually have to wait for the lake to freeze over and force them out into the open to get such good views.

Nice ones Andy and you've got one on me with the Water Rail although the odd one turns up where I took the Marsh Tit shot so I am living in hope ! (y)

Great water rail shots Andy. You've done well catching them in the open.
