I took these pictures the other week at a water fall. The first is a longer exposure to capture the flow of the water;

And the second is a shorter exposure to get the sky and the foliage to the right correctly exposed;

The question is how do I get the two together. I have tried pasting the images over one another and then using the eraser tool with a flow of aroun 7% to slowy rub away the over exposed sky in the first image.

This looks ok but its not perfect. How would you do it? :thinking:

Thanks in advance ;)

You could also use a ND filter on camera to block light from the sky blowing out.

Phil if you have photoshop open both images and select the over exposed shot select Ctrl A to select it all then Ctrl C to copy it then close that image down open the under exposed shot and then Ctrl V to paste the over exposed image onto the under exposed image as a layer,then add a layer mask then use soft brush at 50-70% set to black to paint over the layer mask to bring back as much of the lower image that you need, hope you dont mind I have had a go using this method

This was using the eraser tool. I think ill have another go with the layer mask thing and see what happens ;-)

Yours seems much sharper on the righ than mine. Mine is a little blurred where the trees have moved during exposure.

Thanks for the info.
