It depends why you are watermarking your images.

If it is to advertise your photography then maybe a web address would be better. If N.Baker Photography leads easily to your website via an internet search then you may want to stick with your name as you have written it.

If it is to discourage people from copying your images, then you want a watermark to cover the interesting part of the image, but feint enough so people can actually see the image, but is not easily removed.

If it is an ego thing, then visible, but not so much as to distract from the image.

That's just what I think as a viewer, as I don't watermark my images.

It's more of a I took it no-one else can use it unless they ask me kind of thing even though they may not be good enough. I don't have a website apart from Flickr. That watermark was just a preview so everytime I put them on I will be covering up part of the image but will bring the opacity down to around 50%.

Thanks for your input it it has helped.

The problem with Flickr is anyone can nick your inages and make them look like someone else took them. You'll never stop this but if you want a watermark as a deterrent it needs a bit of thought.

In fact, how do we know you too this?

Haha that is very true have you any tips for a watermark as a deterrent?

if you want it as a deterrent, place the watermark directly over the main part of the photo, then reduce the opacity to around 20%, this is what i used to have to do with my images of other peoples horses, when i used to take pictures of peoples horses down my own stables they used to take them and send them into magazines claiming them as there own, now i don't mind them taking them for private use but when i see my images in magazines with the caption "photo by "there name"" (they use this site) it becomes a problem, so for about 2 years i was water marking my pictures in this way and it worked, i don't watermark my pictures any more tho even tho they are on flickr and other sites to me they just ruin the pictures now.
