Waterproof case for Canon 7D

doesnt look worth it in my opinion
is the cost of your camera worth a £15 case?
 
lol, understand that, but as far as I can see, the other option is at the other end of the scale... £900 for a 'proper' underwater case. :|
 
what about a high end (ish) compact with waterproof case
its not ideal

i have a canon G11 with waterproof case for underwater stuff
as i to cannot afford the high end case (but one day maybe i will) :)
 
I have a Lumix TS3 which I've been really happy with the underwater performance of, so I'll be taking that anyway... just thought I'd see what people thought of the plastic bag approach so I could benefit from the DSLR features. :D
I guess in reality I should just stick with the TS3 and be happy - but it's a once in a lifetime opportunity and I don't want to miss it!
 
I looked into this before Christmas. You really only have two options, either a proper case (big, bulky and very expensive) or a proper underwater camera. I ended up getting a Nikon AW1, part of the Nikon 1 series and fully waterproof. Shoots RAW and has interchangeable lenses (although there are only two at the moment. It'll run rings round the waterproof compacts that are the only other option. I used it for two weeks in the Philippines where it got wet/was used under water daily and it was fine (although you have to be a bit careful looking after the seals, much like you would with a proper housing.

I haven't yet been able to look at the images to tell you what the quality is like as I shot only in RAW and I need to install a program that reads them (my version of PS and LR havent been updated yet...). It performed admirably though.
 
Thanks, one of the main benefits I was looking for was to shoot raw, for better processing/removal of the blueing. To be honest, I am reluctant to spend out on a new camera... but we'll see how flush I'm feeling.
Consensus seems to be to stick with the dedicated underwater camera rather than "bag up" my slr! Lol
