As part of an on going project of mine whereby the end product will be a montage of the different phases of the Moon. Done to death I know but I want my own version....

So here's my effort from last week of a Waxing Gibbous Moon @ 92% illumination, taken by mounting my d7100 onto a 6" reflector.

The image is a combination of 8 shots tweaked in Lightroom & then merged together in PS. It's not quite as sharp as I'd like but I'm putting that down to the Moon approaching 100%.

I know nothing about astronomy - but love it :) The moon fascinates me.

Looks sharp enough to me but i know what you mean. Maybe it was just the seeing that night. Was your scope cooled?

Thanks both, it's sharp enough along the terminator, just not so much on the face... Maybe a slightly faster shutter next time.

The seeing that night was clear with the Moon high in the sky & the scope had been out for around an hour and a half on what was quite a cool night.
