Hi there guys,

Just had a couple of quick questions (quite different ones though haha) that I wondered what others thought, so here they are:

#1) Which do you think is the best/most accurate weather forecasting website? Personally I say the Met and the Weather Chanel, both I have had plenty of luck with.

#2) How does humidity affect a sunrise/sunset and does visibility affect the quality of sunrise/sunset (ie: excellent visibility allow for more colours in someway?)

#3) What would be your ideal sunrise weather forecast to get nice colours and such?

I was just asking these questions as I think predicting sunsets are easier with you being able to see what is happening with weather, on top of this I have more experience with sunsets and predicting them but little idea with sunrise, so was hoping to get some tips from the early risers out there :)

#1 BBC/Met Office 12 hour forecast. Very reliable. Still wrong occaisionally

#2 Warm maritime airstreams are likely to carry more moisture than cold continental airstreams

#3 Broken cloud on the eastern horizon, high pressure, NE airstream - or a banana

Look also at the Met Office satellite images. They enable hour by hour decisions on whether to go out shooting.

1) fairly disappointed with Met Office predictions, but use their IR maps and use my own judgement. Also yr.no seems to be better than the UK ones. Sometimes looking through the window is the best one can do!

2) not too sure, but then a very clear visibility will be just that with very strong sunlight up to the last second, while foggy conditions will give softer light and the red sun disc. Anything worse and you can call it dull / overcast but it may be your thing. The red sunsets is something I'm trying to catch and have fairly little luck. There has to be plenty of clouds, and a decent break near the horizon, and probably something else.

3) Volcanic eruption in Iceland  apart from that I got much better results just looking out of the window and making erratic guestimate.

Weather plays a big part in messing with my job, I have found www.metcheck.com to be about as accurate as you could hope for, I've been using it for around 4 years. It's breakdown of the day is very useful too.

Do you get loads of script/database errors on Metcheck for your area? I used to use it quite a lot but it is down 99% of the time for me now.
