Hi,

I would like to buy a domain on Namesco let's say mydomain.co.uk for sake of speaking, and then set up a web site on 000webhost and use my mydomain.co.uk address for it. Its all ok, but can you tell me how can I also get an email account @mydomain.co.uk ?

Thanks

When you set up your hosting you log onto you sites cpanel and choose your emails in their.

So you'd log into mydomail.co.uk/cpanel and click mail accounts then cluck add

Hope that helps

000host let you set up emails. Simple too. You can do it directly through 000host control panel.

Oh and namesco is really expensive! 123reg.co uk is just over £5 for 2 years .co.uk, namesco is £9.99

Thanks, but I am still a little bit confused.
Namesco says they give you an email with your domain. 123reg wants extra £0.99/month for email which ends with your domain .
All I want is to buy mydomain.co.uk, set up account with 000webhost, and set up email @mydomain.co.uk
Will buying a domain with Namesco allow me to do this?
Thanks

Namesco and 123reg are offering hosting for the email. You dont need this as 000host offer it for free with thier free and paid packages.
Simply buy the domain and nothing else from your chosen place and then once you have added the domain to 000host you can set up the email there.
A .co.uk domain only from 123 reg for 2 years is £5.98

I have 3 domains hosted for free on 000host, all have email hosted with them but the domains were purchased through 123reg. One of my domains is tcrphotography.co.uk and my email ends with that.

Last one question (hopefully).
Can I set up hosting with 00webhost and add the domain later on? Or do I have to have my domain at the moment of setting up the host.

You can set up the hosting without owning the domain, but I'd not reccomend that incase someone else buys the domain in the meantime.

I'd buy the domain, then set up the hosting. You can then either leave the nameservers pointing to the registrar's holding page, or 000host has its own holding page once the nameservers are transfered.

The best thing to do is buy the name then the hosting.

But be aware that it takes around 24 hours* for your domain name to become active then you can point the nameservers to your host, but again this takes 24-48 hours* to update before all is up and running.

don't worry about if your host offers email or not, you can manage a @mydomain.co.uk email account from a gmail account (or a google apps). Cheap webhosts tend not to be the most reliable - but if mine goes wrong my email is still working. You also get an online backup of everything and can access your email from anywhere.

I decided to revisit this thread.
I have bought now my domain from 123reg, and then set up the hosting with 000webhost, giving them my domain address.
Should I do something more on 123reg or this is enough. I do hear about pointing to host servers or something like that, but not being very technical I have no idea what that means.
On 123reg control pannel the only thing I can see of relevance is Web Forwarding... is this it?

Thanks

No, you need to change the nameservers on 123 reg.In your 000hosts it tells you what these are.
In 123reg, go to your control panel and click the domain and then manage. It will have a menu of things to do,under advanced domain settings and you want change nameservers. There are two boxes which will say ns.123-reg.co.uk and ns2.123-reg.co.uk. Change these to the nameservers that 000host has given you. Mine are ns01.000webhost.com, ns02.000webhost.com and yours should be the same but check!

Once you have done that, click change nameservers and your domain will now be pointing to 000hosts servers. It might take a while for it to pick it up, but in my experience its pretty quick.
