I'm setting up my first website for a bunch of Evertonians over here in Toronto. I currently have a logo of the Everton FC crest; it's actually a photo I took myself. Do I need to seek permission to have this

as my logo on the site? or, as I took the photo is it OK? I don't want to be posting images that need permission.
 
hmmmmm.....i would say that the photo is yours = your right to use it, i know some buildings are copyright, but im not sure about that logo...

...and dont let matt see it, he will ban you
 
The logo will be protected by trademark laws, I can almost guarantee it.

What sort of website will you be using it on and in what context?
There are a few ways in which you'll be allowed to use it.
 
It's just to let people know that there is an unofficial Everton supporters club in Toronto. It lets them know who we are and where we watch the games. I've already put some photos up that I took when I visited the ground a few weeks back, and there are links to other Everton related websites.
