is it possible to track a web host down

i have been asked to do a small site for the press officer of the local football club i have everything ready but because of years of neglect etc password and usernames have all been lost

so i want to find the host any ideas to how this would be done ?

put the web site address in and it will tell you the name of the host company. Not so good if the company sells rackspace to other providers but may give you a start
