Hi all.

I'v just invested in some web hosing and am looking to get some form of website up and running. All I want is something simple and professional looking. I only want a few simple sections like; home page, bio, gallery, contact etc...

I have a little knowledge of Html and how to go about setting things up, but not enough to make my own site and organise it all.

What would you all suggest I do, I know a lot of people use word press, but that's more blog orientated and I really wouldn't make use of a blog. I think its possible to incorporate a gallery into word press but I'm not sure how I'd go about doing that.

The other option is to find some kind of free template and work with that... are these easy to set up and edit? or am I going down a potentially frustrating road of limited possibility's here.

What would you guys and gals suggest for a starting point?

I second wordpress. Was totally sceptical at first but getting into it. Takes a while to find your way around if you want to edit the structure of a theme but really good once you work out how it all works..
 
thanks for you input peeps - I'll give Wordpress a stab and see how it works out :) I'll most likely give up my weekend sorting it all out :D
 
aye another nod to wordpress here, very very fast to setup and manage, very customisable. I use it for www.kluens.co.uk and have set it up for a few friends to use too.

Pixelpost is another option for a more photo orientated site, I use it for the back-end "galleries" (recent, in the links) on my site. It is installed in much the same way as wordpress too. The main reason I use pixelpost is the facility to upload straight to it from Lightroom.
