Website blog.

Have you updated wordpress recently? I know theres been a update in the past couple of weeks.

If you have ftp access, check the permissions of that folder and its contents.

Chmod 777, for example, gives fullaccess to everyone, so dont ever set a folder to 777 ;)

Need to make sure the folder /blog is readable by everyone.

Thanks.

The folder is readable in as much, as if I place an index.htm file in there, the link to the blog file works. So in other words, my browser is finding the correct folder, but wherever Wordpress goes after index.php, isn't happening.

I've been looking at it today and there are some problems with the database, but quite honestly, it's beyond my knowledge.

Apparently, there is a script that you can run to try and correct the issue, but it's not clear where the script is located and how to go about it.

I'll take another look at the message via phpMyAdmin and see if I can come back with any further information.

I was tempted to just reinstall Wordpress (yet again) and see if it would correct itself, but I thought that if there are database issues, it may do no good at all. Further, as I've already posted some content, I was hoping to be able to access that again. I am however tempted to try it and see.

If you can still access the back end of WP, back up the posts that you've already made, then you could try re-installing it. When I had some problems with mine, my host was able to sort them for me.

OK, solved at last!

The issue was an index.php directive missing in Apache2.

So while I was concentrating on fixing Wordpress, I was looking in the wrong place.

Sadly, through lack of knowledge, it looks like I've lost the small amount of content I'd already posted. I backed up the database, thinking that's where the content was, but in spite of importing that database, I still don't seem to have any content. So I guess Wordpress stores that in it's own files. If anyone can offer guidance for the future on backup strategies, I'd be grateful.

Thanks to everyone who tried to help.

I think you have to hit something like export and it will export your posts for you. Can't remember where it is, will have a look and update this post.

Edit: On your dashboard, along the left menu you'll see 'Tools' and below it is 'Export'.

your page and post content should be stored in your underlying SQL servcer database so a sql backup should allow you to restore. Picture etc. will be stored in your /wp-content folder
