I've put up a very simple website. Appreciate anyone's comments on changes and improvements I could make.

Particularly at odds on borders for the images. White seems very harsh. Would I be better lightening up the theme in general?

And appreciate there's not much content. It's there to help inspire me to do more :)

the gallery takes too long to load doing all it's fancy throwing of photos on to the screen, and the dropdown menu of "categories" doesn't work - it appears but when you move the mouse to select "people" it disappears again.
 
Thanks Ian. What browser are you using? The dropdown seems to be working fine in IE7, Firefox 3 and Google Chrome.

How long is too long to load for the gallery? Seems to take no more than a few seconds here on an uncached copy.
 
I like it a lot. Very simple layout and I like the bio/comments on the homepage. Do you mind me asking how you set yours up?
 
Looks like a wordpress theme you can get from most wp theme websites... looks good for what you need it for, but there are better ones out there if you just going to be using free themes..
 
It's Wordpress using a theme called black canvas which I've made a few modifications to. It's now unsupported unless you pay for it, which I feel goes against the whole ethos of Wordpress and its addons. Whilst I'm pretty happy with the backend now, it's the frontend that needs dolling up I feel.

For similar (and supported themes) try Linquist or Sharpfolio.
