Hello, my website design is nearly complete, just need to adda few more images and complete the photography pages.

Was just looking for some feedback on the suggestion and any suggestions for anything i may have missed off.

the site is carlomullenphotography.co.uk

Cheers

Not sure if the pages other than the ones you mentioned are complete or not, obviously the photography pages are to be finished.
There is no about page explaining who you and your company are etc, (not sure if thats to be added though)
On the contact page there is no contact options other than a webform, no phone number, no postal address or email address (a requirement for a business website)
Clients link opens a new page/tab not sure if thats intended or not.

Looking good though

Get your details on the home page. You location and phone number and a clear description of what you do needs to be clear or you will lose visitors right away.

Most pages are complete apart from the Photography pages(location/pet/studio) which i'm just deciding how to layout as i don't think i have much text to go next to the gallery so might have to add them all on one page with a link to galleries.

I did have an about page but it just looked like a load of text and not very inviting so opted against it and was going to add something elsewhere.

I will add the add the extra details to the contact page.

Clients page links to another site so does open in a new window.

thanks for your comments.

thanks for your comments.

You could almost add the about page to the home page, it doesn't need to be masses, simply who you are and where you serve is sufficent I would say

Clients page was just to let you now in case you weren't aware.

The contact page just needs those extra bits added to comply with the regs, but I would add your email address as an image rather than text if you can to try and outwit the spam bots lol

have added contact details to footer page, which will appear on all pages

Thanks for your suggestions, the about page, would you think a paragraph would be suitable if positioned in the footer? don't really want to add anything on the home page other than the gallery, but not sure about the about page.

i have added contact details to the footer, so it appears on all pages, don't really want to show email address especially with contact page, wasn't sure it was necessary to have an email address. Pone number has been attached

Personal preference about the about us section, depends how long it is I suppose. Try it move it around and see if it looks odd or not.

As to regards to contact details, here is a section from the EC directive 2002. Upto whether or not you follow but the info is here anyway.
Minimum information to be provided

Service providers, whether involved in e-commerce or not, should provide the following minimum information, which must be easily, directly and permanently accessible:

The name of the service provider must be given somewhere easily accessible on the site. This might differ from the trading name and any such difference should be explained – e.g. "XYZ.com is the trading name of XYZ Enterprises Limited."
The email address of the service provider must be given. It is not sufficient to include a 'contact us' form without also providing an email address.
The geographic address of the service provider must be given. A PO Box is unlikely to suffice as a geographic address; but a registered office address would. If the business is a company, the registered office address must be included in any event.
If a company, the company's registration number should also be given.
If the business is a member of a trade or professional association, membership details, including any registration number, should be provided.
If the business has a VAT number, it should be stated – even if the website is not being used for e-commerce transactions.
Prices on the website must be clear and unambiguous. Also, state whether prices are inclusive of tax and delivery costs.
Finally, do not forget the overlapping information requirements of other laws:
The Distance Selling Regulations contain various information requirements for businesses that sell to consumers over the web. For details of these requirements, see our guide, The UK's Distance Selling Regulations.
If the service provider is a company, the Companies Act 2006 requires that the place of registration should be stated (e.g. "XYZ Enterprises Limited is a company registered in England and Wales with company number 1234567").

I would still add your phone number to the right of the contact form on the contact page aswell, simply because you have to scroll down to view the phone number and it maybe missed when people click the contact page expecting to find it there.

Not a lot of people are lol and it has been in since 2002. TBH though between me you and the gatepost I don't think many people follow it to the letter unless they are actually selling goods through their website. Spend 5 mins trawling the net looking at businesses that offer a service with a website and I would bet 75% don't have a postal address listed or an email address if they have a contact form.
I have no idea what the punishment is for not following the directive??

Thanks, always good to know, what regulations are out there

have added an about page, what are your views on this?

thanks

Yeah looks ok. Thats probably one of the hardest areas to do as you have to come across as confident without being up your own ****, skilled enough to get what the client wants rather than what your ego wants. Its a page you will probably find you adjust a lot, just don't forget about it and what you write now maybe changed when you think of a better way to word it. Looking good though.

Nice clean and simple site.
I personally dont like websites opening another page, it also moves people away from you main page which has your contact details on.

Not sure why you have a gallery section at the bottom of your about page tho. also it wasnt immediatly obvious what to click on to get back to the gallery section on that page.

The large area with grey on those galleries seem to make the images look even smaller.

Still working on the layout of the gallery on the page, the reason i have included it there is to show my photography, if i dont then i only really have the front page showing photos.

The client link that loads another site, wont be used that often, as i will be doing viewings so no real need to upload to the external site, it may in time be removed.

Have made suggested changes and all apart from about me photography descriptions is complete.

Any more feedback would be much appreciated.

Thanks

I like the design layout of your site, but there's a couple of things that really throw me to be honest.

I just don't 'get' your blog at all if I'm being honest. It doesn't read as a blog very easily, and it has quite large Facebook and Twitter banners daubed across it, which almost look like adverts. Personally, I would try and address this, and make it a little more personal and inviting for people to read. You actually don't say much on it either, and a blog should really be stuffed full of super fresh content to come and help all those lovely Google bots to come and find you regularly

Your front page photos are very large which means people have to scroll down to see any copy on the page, and the current copy doesn't make complete sense. You also use the letter 'i' where 'I' should be used, eg. "i love the way i can look back and view a moment in my life."

I think you need a 'proper' email address not an @sky.com address, something like info@ or sales@ or photos@ carlomullenphotography.co.uk. You own the domain name, you should take every advantage of it, it looks so much more professional.

And of course, you desperately need some really good copy on your 'about me' page which by the look of it is yet to be started.

Sorry, I'm not being negative, it's a great looking design I think you just have to pay attention to the small pieces to put it all together :)

Some valid points, that i have considered myself.

Wasn't sure about hte blog at first, but a lot of sites appear to have one and as i am just getting the site together, the blog is failry thin on words, althought never written one before it certainly needs boosting, however the main purpose is to offer an example of each shoot. I will research blogs a little more.

The facebook and twitter links should be to my accounts, again this is something i have not finished editing, it should be "like me on facebook" and "follow me on twitter" so they look less like adverts.

The front page quote was just some text to try and make it a more personal site, have made the changes to i and I, thought i had done these already.

About Me Page shuold be completed tonight and have created a new email address will be updated on the site this evening.

Thanks for the comments
