Ok you lovely lot, your points below were taken into consideration, ive had a bit of a play, i still plan on altering the text slightly on the homepage and the portraiture page but other than that im pretty happy...

However.... YOUR opinions matter, and i look forward to hearing them...

i think the first thing i will comment on is for me it's a bit slow loading, esp the large images that come up at the top, i'm on a 30mb virgin line!!
 
really???? I havent expierenced that issue with it?? and i have slow internet... is anyone else expierencing this problem??

Hi,

Your flash movies do not work at all on my PC (says it is loading but never displays) and there are also Javascript errors on several of the pages.

There are some spelling mistakes too (Maternity, Arn't, easterly).

Apart from that it is easy to navigate and looks good, but it would be nice to see the flash movies.

Considering this is a business website, you really need to check your copy properly because there are quite a few spelling mistakes, which don't leave a good impression. And to be brutally honest, I also think the overall design especially with regards to your text, in terms of placement, colour and sizing, looks quite amateur. Personally I feel that photography websites should be quite minimalist in design, so that the imagery can take centre stage. My advice to you would be to consider toning down the design, neatening up the text, and choosing a colour scheme that doesn't compete with the photos. Take your cue from art galleries, where information about each piece accompanies it in a very unobtrusive fashion and the work is giving breathing room and space to speak for itself.
 
Loading very slowly on my machine - nut my parents probably have SLOW broadband.

Overall a well designed site (speed aside).

I don't like the typeface for the main text on the homepage - it's too bold, and then the text goes too small.

You've missed an apostrophe out in AREN'T

Surely it's 'most easterly', not 'most Eastly'.

Just my thoughts
 
im really struggling with the font aspect, obviously the spelling stuff is fixable, most of it has already been updated (other than the maternity link at the top) which will be done tomorrow, but im really limited on fonts, the options i have are..

comic sans ms
courier new
georgia
helvetica
impact
tahoma
terminal
trebuchet ms
verdana

thats the only options the site gives me... any advice?
 
Fonts like Arial and Helvetica are classic and timeless and well suited to exhibition/portfolio style websites because they're minimalist in design and are not necessarily associated with any particular era. Times New Roman and other serif fonts work in some cases but personally I avoid them for web copy. Comic Sans should never have even been invented.
 
ok, updated using helvetica and altered the red text to black ... any better this way?
 
I'd get someone to proof read all text, especially with regard to punctuation.

Contact Us page - MIssing "get" before "back to you". I would also remove "try" and make it "we will get back to you"

On the maternity page I think you should have some space between the price of a package and the title of the next one. At the moment it looks as though Baby's First Year is £75. Maybe also increase the font size on the package titles.

Again on Maternity you could probably do with a "Special Offer Packages" (or similar) heading for the combination prices at the bottom.

Navigation bar at top says "maternity" but the one at the bottom says "bump to baby"

this is exactly why i posted this here, some fantastic points, will be addressing them immeadiatly - see, my spelling really is that bad... :D

Very slow to load, but given the IP address in url are you hosting yourself whilst still developing?

Typeface is not great.

User has to scroll down on every page to read anything. Very annoying. Lots of real-estate lost to header image and your large company name etc..

Also, confusing having two different phone numbers on the same page.

Hi. Just had a lookie - the flash thingy doesn't load (I'm using Browsar at work ...) so can't see any of the images. Type too black and bold, a bit too big but the worst thing is the line length - too wide. Also agree with Chris, two phone numbers?

I like the overall 'look' of the site, though.

yes its not really live live yet,

typeface... any suggestions? you can see what my options are in a previous post above..

point taken with the picture, these are only example pictures, finals are still be played around with.

as for numbers, landline and mobile.... how is that confusing???

What's with the � in the text?
I think its a shame I end up with a vert scroll on my cinema screen - you could lose some blank space and get everything visible without a scroll. I don't quite get why you need bold text all over.
 
ok, the box thing has been removed. bold text has been removed. dont see any way i can remove 'blank space' to get it without scroll but i HAVE updated the wording on the homepage and the commercial page. I am personally happy with both of these but still want to update the portraiture one as yet...

Again, your feedback on these updates would be appreciated. I really want to get this one right
 
Looks better without the bold. On my ipod the rhs has no margin and some of the info like phone isnt visible. Does that matter?
 
it seems to be the same on all phones, have no idea why. have now finished sorting out all wording on the site,. much better i think
 
When I validated the opening page on the site there were 25 validation errors and 5 warnings.

This may be causing some of the problems people are experiencing.

For total interoperability across a wide variety of devices coding needs to be accurate.

And Google is also taking note of coding faults which may adversely affect placings.

If you load Opera or (I believe) Firefox you can now validate straight from the page to W3.org

You are also using tables where you should be using CSS.

Prices page = remove the banner of £20 notes. For a start, it's not needed and it also gives the impression you have cash lying around and are charging too much.

In your gallery the photo aspects seem to wide and narrow. I'd like to see a little more height on them.

Looks nice and load speeds are fine here :D Not had chance to look at the code as I am at work :)
