I've had two sites up and running for a few years now but they were nothing special - Both were templates from Serif and looked how they should for a beginner.

However now I'd like to make my website look impressive and show off my images to their best potential.

Can anyone steer me in the right direction to some good software, preferably with free trials before I buy

You can produce something great using Serif. Might be worth saving your money on software and spend it on getting someone to design you a site.

It is also about the design, which if you do not consider yourself good with design is much better left with someone else.

Wordpress is a great thing to look into with several templates both free and pay for that really will let you get a style you like.

If you are competant with HTML coding you can do a lot worse than to just surf the web and find something you like the look of. Take a screenshot and do your best to recreate it in dreamweaver. Not a cheap bit of kit if you pay for it though, but easily the best in the industry.

Alternatively find someone who will accept an image mock up and can export that into a web-layout - simply involves slicing and exporting with photoshop.
