Hey guys,

It's still a work in progress but wanted a bit of feedback on my site. Could you take a look at:

The images are dummy images and there's no text but aside from that, it's pretty much complete :)

Too simple? Simple enough? Bland? Boring? Stylish? Clean?

Is the idea of the site to attract commissions or sell photos?

Not currently to sell photos.. possibly more to attract commission. Eventually I'll think about adding sales to the site.
 
Well thought out site but in your about us page I personally think English would be better as its the International language or a version of it for us non linguists but still a very nice site

I've updated my site with images and a slight change to the logo which I think looks a little better. It's all pretty simple stuff but I think it's quite effective!
 
I like it, it's clean cut. Do you have a HTML version for fallback?

Would you say that to a customer? I don't think so, because chances are they would just close out of the site and go to someone else. :shrug:

Apart from that I had a few glitches with thumbnails not loading, which meant I also couldn't click onto the next image. I also found all the pages loaded quite slowly ... well slower than I would like tbh, and if I were seeking out your business to buy something, I would probably lose patients and go elsewhere.

Having said all that, you do have some excellent photographs, I particularly like the one of the mountain scene which is part of you front page stream :clap:

What is this, 1998?

Take a look at the Flash penetration stats.

New releases of Flash player are extremely fast at propagating on the web.

As for the errors, it's either bad coding or someone has the debug version (handy for developers) of Flash installed.
 
I got the no flash/javascipt error message here too.

Yeah, I'm not disputing that for a second, but a lot of people who aren't net savvy like the rest of us, would probably just close out of it in case they get a virus or something for downloading something... :lol: That's what my older sister said when I told her she had to download the update for a site she wanted to look at. I have more friends and relatives that are NOT internet savvy than those that are. Something like having to upgrade a flash player would just put them off looking.
 
You could either keep catering for those people or push them forward through education. We should start a separate thread for this discussion ;)
 
Just looking at the images, they're a little big actually (200k+) so the need optimising a bit. Thanks for the feedback though. For those having problems with the site, can you let me know what OS/browser/browser version you're using?

LOL go for it. I will say though, if that is your attitude to potential customers, you will have less than someone who caters for all ;) Our sites aren't there for education, a large pecentage are there to sell.

Edit: Welly, mine is Vista and IE8

That's not really my attitude, it's just opinion. I just launched my new site last night and it's done entirely in HTML and CSS. I totally agree with you that the site has to be accessible to customers, and for this kind of site that's the truth. But in general I think people need to gently guide people away from the safety net.

Thanks Jo, I'll set up a Vista/IE8 machine and see if I can recreate the problems you're having.
 
Works fine now I upgraded to FP10.

TBH, I didn't really expect to do this just to give feedback on someone's website....

Now look at what you can do with Flash 10! :) Everything you could do with Flash 9 and much, much more! (don't ask me what)
