Afternoon all,

I want to change the wording on my homepage but stuck for ideas/wording for what i can add/change

Starting with a blank pages I've added the usual, welcome to my site, this site is....
areas I have cover are...

but then what do I add?

I think what i have is to short and want to add more detail and information but alittle stuck as to what else people would want to see?

anyone any ideas?

You need to be consistent in what you are saying.

"Based in Northumberland Steven is....."

"...I hope you have enjoyed viewing the pictures as much as I have taking them"

You just need to decide if you want to write in the first person or not.

Don't think there is any need to thank people for reading the page. Give people a bit more info on you, how you got into photography, your first camera, what you enjoy taking photos of the most. Make it personal so people start to get an idea of the person you are.

It was just something i've added onto the end, will remove it once I redo the wording for the page

I was thinking about the I enjoy this most but then makes me think that is taken something away from the other aspects of photography I do if that makes sense

I don't want to people to think, oh he likes taking pictures of motorsports the best, that means he doesn't like taking portraits for example as much or is that looking to much into it?

I will note down a couple of things later and see where it takes me

I think your looking too much into it and also depends on how you word it, personally I think a personal 'about me' works best.

I would personally keep the homepage very clean. Save the other information for an 'about me' page or similar.

On that page I would put the following:

*Age, location
*How you started in photography (First camera, most memorable job)
*Your favourite type of work and why (perhaps something about getting the results your customer is looking for, and the rewarding experience of the process)
*Finally, and importantly, I would put some refrences from happy customers or list of publications featuring your work

Just think: What's relevant to someone who is considering you for a job. Remember that the job is often special and personal to your customer so come across as personable but not big headed.

Cheers

I think your right to be honest. I did have a homepage and an about page but then merged them into one

thanks so far for the comments and tips, keeping close tabs now and thinking about redoing my site to make it better on the eye and easier to navigate

How does this sound for a first draft?

I would write it in first person, personally(!) - and probably most clients won't be interested in the camera collection, but it might be more interesting to talk about formats you use and perhaps a single fave camera. I'm not sure if I would include it at all.. try and imagine it's the 'About the author' part of a book. Maybe check some out for inspiration.

Please don't use the word 'passion'!
