meta tags, which should be the head of your pages, also submit it to google

<meta name="description" content=" Coventry Photography />
<meta name="keywords" content= "Coventry Photography />
<meta name="abstract" content=" Coventry Photography/>
<meta name="author" content="Coventry Photography" />

Plus other related keywords (y) after the Coventry Photography, eg Coventry Photo,Coventry portraits, Coventry Photos, Coventry shoots, Coventry images and so on anything related to what you do

Does look fab Clare :clap:

Put a body of text in your page using loads of keywords

as all youve got now is

About Light Photographic
Light Photographic is a provider of professional photography within Coventry and the West Midlands. Specialising in family and child portraits, Light Photography is also able to provide pet, engagement and model photoshoots, as well as undertaking commercial and urban work.

all of the above should also be in your meta tags

A lot of people say meta tags are outdated now, but also good content words on your index page are essential,

Google (and of course those other search engines that none of us use :) ) doesn't like content hidden in pages. The problem being you can just type 'Kate Middleton Naked' into your meta tags, and bang, you have 1 million hits. All completely irrelevant to your website, making search engines pretty useless at finding anything users actually want. So they now get ignored.

Home page content will rank highly. If you need help with keywords, just start typing 'coventry photo..' into google and see what automatic suggestions it gives you, then bang them into your home page. ;)

Anyways, I'm no SEO expert - there's loads of advice out there on the t'interweb which will help you out.

The site itself is very nice. Clean and tidy, Easy on the eye. Well laid out. The only thing I don't like is the text aligned center on the sub menus. Personally I'd align them left, and maybe give them a different colour to the main menus.

Only problem is, where the hell do I 'bang them into my home page'? :p

You should be able to add them without people actually seeing the tags.

Did you write it in HTML, or using a program?

I can show you what I wrote on my website, but I did it in HTML.

It's a nice website that's easy to navigate. There are a couple of grammar mistakes in the section about yourself on the About page:

I my style and also a comma is required after however.

Looking at your portrait gallery, I found it a bit of a pain to have to keep clicking through the large images, a slide show option would be nice (unless I've missed it somewhere?)

Also, I noticed that when I hover over the thumbnails, the names of some of the children appear (I'm guessing as the file name?). I know it might be a bit OTT but wherever possible, I'd try to keep the names of clients private, especially when they are minors.

Well done though!

Only problem is, where the hell do I 'bang them into my home page'? :p

Ah, yes. That's me not thinking. The home page is quite visual. Difficult one without spoiling the appearance. And hiding them's a no, no - you get blacklisted from the search engines.

Do make sure any images have descriptive titles and alt tags though. That'll help if you haven't done so already.

I noticed you changed the sub-menus too. And I'm being really picky now :D I suspect it looks a little different on your monitor - colours can vary a lot between different machines, but the background is just off white, barely indistinguishable from the white background. I had to look a few times to see if it was a different colour at all. And also the padding either side of the text - not too bad on the left, but one of them's pushed right up to the edge of the background on the right. Could be my browser though. I'm using Opera.

No, you don't need to write them in white.
You code them as being meta tags, and then they are invisible, but Google and the like can still find them.

I'll post my meta tag codes on here. Two tics.

Copy this near the top of your page.

<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />
<meta name="description" content="The Wildlife Lodge bird rescue birds young duckling ambulance chicks duck goose swan pigeon pigeons geese swans squirrel squirrels hedgehog hedgehogs fox foxes cub hand rear injured injury wing foot vet veterinary medicine medical treatment water food shelter Bromley Beckenham Kent London South East South-East donation donations charity non-profit volunteer funding fund funded funds grant grants animal animals rescuer rescuing abandoned orphaned injure broken aviary feed bird seed Sidcup Eltham Catford Lewisham Shortlands Chislehurst Petts Wood Orpington St Mary Cray St Pauls Cray Penge Sydenham Anerley Grove Park Downham West Wickham Hayes Bromley Common Green Street Green Foots Cray Bexley Greenwich Swanley Crockenhill Dartford Bexleyheath New Eltham Mottingham Farnborough Keston Biggin Hill " />

Obviously replace the words I have listed with your own key words.

Hope that helps.

Clare your site gets a big (y) from me.
It runs pleasantly on my Opera browser without flash enabled.
Nice grey thumbnails that clear under the mouse.
Reasonable loading of photos.
Clear navigation.
A confident site, should bring in good customers.

thanks Clare give us a buzz if you need any more info seo wise etc.
