Okay...I had a great idea 14 months ago...and bought a domain name and some basic web service...and I have had nothing but wasted time trying to figure it out...

I am a bit of a nubie to this...but usually quite easy at picking up tech and setups off the cuff...

The domain name and web service are with uk-cheapest...and they use a panel called PLESK...

Anyone else using this...and got some info...I built a basic site to try in Lightroom...but cannot seem to suss out how to get it on there...

Heeeeeeeeeeeelp....

I feel better now Ive vented...

Thanks to anyone who can help...I just wanna get it up and running...

Hi thanks...trying to upload a web site...1st one for trial...the PDF instructions doesnt seem to open (downloaded it about 6 times)...really just trying to suss out how to upload:

Got a Lightroom Web File (for steviereilly.com)...(exported into the file) with files for 'content' and 'resources' (images etc in them) inside and 'indexes'...just need to find out how to upload it, to where in PLESK, and how to FTP (downloaded 'CoffeeCup' a free FTP)...

Thanks for any help...if only there was a simple drag & drop type it would be quicker...and easier...I just dont have the time to learn all the stuff right now...the bespoke self-designed web site will be down the road a bit...Im still learning PS & LR...

Cheers...

It sounds like you just need to use the FTP software to load your website onto your hosting space? …it often goes something like this…

You need some information first, usually found within your hosting providers control panel after logging in.

You need the FTP address itself for your FTP software to connect to.... which will be the hosting provider/blah type thing.
You'll need a username and a password for that connection.

Once you have those open the FTP software and fill in a new connection with your details.

Then press connect or whatever its called …and upload your site into the main first folder of your hosting space. (or you may be connected into the folder already or they stipulate a folder in the CP)

Usually the file you have named as .index.html (htm –I’m guessing) will be the file your domain name will open as default…with the rest of the site, if designed correctly, being connected to that.

Done.

Hi I gave up the ghost and went with a ready made site by weebly...that I can alter to suit...

They sent instructions for forwarding... http://kb.weebly.com/domain-registrar.html

...I cant seem to suss out how this works in plesk though...I sent them the suggested email...but they didnt make the changes...

Any ideas...???

Thanks for any help yo can pass on...!!!
