Ive been press ganged into doing an evening reception (after marraige abroad) im 99% extreme sports, so its all new to me, i have a d200 and d90 with a cheap jessops brand flash, lens wise i can chose from sigma 18-50 2.8, nifty 50 1.8, sigma 28-70 2.8-4 and sigma 70-200 2.8, what combination is recommended, hopefully some early evening outdoor shots to start then indoors for disco and live band, any help would be really appreciated

I would use the 70-200 2.8 on the D90 as it's low light capabilities are a bit better and therefore you can use a higher ISO for handholding the bigger lens when taking shots indoors and use the 18-50 2.8 on the D200 with the flash set for a bit of fill.

any help with settings advice ect, would be really appreciated, they think because i take fast action shots a wedding will be a cinch:'(cheers

I would ditch the heavy stuff, and keep it just incase you feel like doing some distant candids. stick to the 50 1.8 and the 18-50 (although it may be too slow). Try and get a balance of available light shots, i am sure you'll be alright settings wise, and diffused flash shots. With diffused flash, I either bounce on the ceiling/walls or have an flash diffuser on. If the light is fairly low, then expose for the faces and use some light from the flash diffuser to act as a fill. Settings wise, I think you'll be limited to wide open, and high iso's, with the only variable being your shutter speed, and being a sports tog, I wont waste any time on giving you tips on shutter speeds!

Good luck, hope that helps!
