Hi Guys as most of you may know i dont do weddings, But my little sister is getting married on saturday.......dont want carry all my equipment so do you think I could get away with the 70-200......I wont be doing inside shots.....just a few around the castle:cool:
 
Have you ever read any wedding threads on here? If not prepare for a bun fight.

In answer to your question it depends on your camera and the venue and their expectations.
 
If your not the official photographer, I read it that your not, just take the 70-200 and get some nice candids. Have a chat with the official photographer and keep out of his way.

If you are the official photographer, then best of luck.....:)

To be honest, if it was my sisters wedding and she had an official tog, I would leave the camera at home and enjoy the day..............:thumbs:
 
that was my plan but you know how it is.......never miss an opportunity...LOL
 
I wouldn't use a 70-200, that's for sure. In fact I can't imagine why you would think that was an appropriate lens?!
 
I used a 17-55 for my sister's wedding (on a crop body), it worked well. For outside the 70-200 might work better (it might look a bit daunting to people of you know what I mean).

It was really only for the reach soi could do more candid shots while the other tog is busy doing her thing......:cool:
 
a 70-200 2.8 is most wedding togs second lens!
 
Have to agree with the comments here - that'll be to much.

You need a wider lens.
 
Yes, 70-200 is better for standing back to do candids a bit more discreetly and is indeed a feature of many wedding photographers bags. However, many of the guests will be your friends and family or if not, will be by the end of the day, so you could probably get away with something much shorter and more intimate. Personally, if I was a guest I wouldn't want to be lugging my 70-200 all day, I would probably stick to a 50mm, or at a push the 24-70, but as it would be a busmans holiday affair from my point of view, I probably have different feelings to you. ;)

Many wedding photographers wouldn't be without it :shrug:
