Weddings which lenses do you use

Hi. Talking to some folks here and there has made me wonder which lenses experienced wedding photographers use most frequently.

I don't mean which lenses you believe you would use if you shot weddings or which lenses you own but which lenses active wedding togs actually use from their kit.

I'm curious. I don't shoot wedding myself. I have only done a few and being inexperienced at weddings and not wanting to try anything too adventurous at the time, I used 24-70 and 70-200 zooms with a 100mm macro. ( I had backup from 50m f1.4 and 24-105 f4 neither of which I used. )

I was talking to someone the other day and he reckons his favourite combo is 35mm and 85mm while someone else he knows uses only a 24mm and 50mm combo.

It's all about your style but I'm curious. I'd quite like to put a poll up and if I can find out how to do it I will

Mainly 35mm 1.4, 85mm 1.8 and sometimes the 135mm f2.

Yes I wasn't sure which section to post this in. I ended up putting it here because the thread is for photographers of people and the section is for people and portraits. But if a mod sees it and feels it would be best moved, would they do it please? I don't want to start multiple posts now

Interesting, Ben. You favour the same combo the guy I was talking with does.

You have one on each body all the time I assume.

90% on my 24-70mm and the other 10% on my 70-200mm.....very occasionally I'll whip out a super wide angle or a wide aperture prime for a couple of shots but hardly ever tbh.

135mm f2 on one body and 24-105 on the other.

It's a 35mm f1.4, 85mm f1.4 and 135 f2 for me too - but you're right...it's all about your style. I didn't 'seek' to use those lenses, or that number of lenses - I just shot and as I developed those were the ones I needed to help give me the results I wanted.

for your information, I use 24-70mm f2.8 - 70-200mm f2.8 and a 50mm f1.4 on the only wedding I shot, (My brothers)

Yep, indeed.

I think it's a fairly common popular combo amongst wedding photographers. Works for me, anyway.
