Weird Mac problem..

Ok, I need some help.. Woke up this morning and switched on the Mac. I was told my date and time was pre 2010 ?!?! checked and yup it was showing Jan 1st 2001.. set the date and time manually charged the iphone via USB then went out.

Tried to text my wife and noticed her number was no longer recognised (Number only showing, not name) and that all texts sent this morning where appearing at the bottom of my text list not the top as normal (Figured this out as the iphone had synched with the messed up time and date on the Mac). I re entered her number and when I try to call it it tells me the number is not recognised??

Came back home and switched the Mac on and got the same message as this morning. So I searched the net and found a fix for it (Some migration issue or something). Then my mouse stopped working (Not connected) then the keyboard stopped working (No Bluetooth detected) I mean. WTF????

Currently I have restored the iphone and the mouse and keyboard are working again...

Is it a poltergeist? or disgruntled Microsoft employee bugging my Mac?

Anyone got any Ideas?

Possibly your CMOS battery in the motherboard needs replaced as regards the time issues, it certainly would be the case on a PC anyway.

Thanks, does the Mac M/B have a battery? I'll have to investigate..

I suppose you're right there!

Its an iMac 10.1 osx 10.6.6 just under a year old
 
If you can get a wired keyboard and mouse , start the computer from the installation disk .

I'd then run disk utility and use the repair disk option, and see if this helps. What worries me is that you have lost the mouse and keyboard.

I suspect you are looking at a visit to an Apple store
 
Bluetooth might have been switched off which would explain why the wireless mouse and keyboard could have gone missing if they're bluetooth ones. If they're ones with a usb thingy then try the usb thingy in a different usb port to see if that makes any difference.

I still think you're going to need to contact apple one way or another...
