A couple of weeks ago my 5D went crunch instead of that nice clicky sound when I took a shot. removing the lens revealed that the mirror was no longer integral to the mechanism!
I took it to T4 in Witney and they sent it off for repair. Turns out the camera was subject to recall for that very problem - who knew??

Did anyone else know about this issue?

Still, it will be repaired for free (saving me £150) and returned on Wednesday - snow permitting.

Great service from T4 btw, both in Swindon and Witney if you ever need them.
 
Yep, it's a known issue. Get's all the nikon boys laughing their socks off :nono:

Looks like I need to keep my ear closer to the ground lol. I stopped buying magazines years ago because they kept repeating themselves and forums like this - as great as they are - take a lot of keeping up with.
