Well someone likes me...

Nice one!

Cracking photo as well. I always enjoy having a browse through the photos on a Friday!

Great shot. My only concern is in the BBC's terms and conditions:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/terms/
Specifically:
"6. By sharing any contribution (including any text, photographs, graphics, video or audio) with the BBC you agree to grant to the BBC, free of charge, permission to use the material in any way it wants (including modifying and adapting it for operational and editorial reasons) for BBC services in any media worldwide (including on the BBC's site accessed by international users). In certain circumstance the BBC may also share your contribution with trusted third parties*."

"9. We normally show your name with your contribution, unless you request otherwise, but for operational reasons this is not always possible. The BBC may need to contact you for administrative or verification purposes in relation to your contribution, or in relation to particular projects. For full details of when and how we may contact you please see the BBC's Privacy Policy plus any local terms where applicable."

So, they can basically do what they want with your shot and use it to make money for them - if they want to - and whilst they do - very kindly allow you to retain copyright (awfully nice of them), you earn no money and they do not even guarantee that you will be credited for the shot? This kind of exploitation is not just limited to the BBC and has been spotted in loads of photo competitions over the years. Whilst it's nice to get your shots published, we should all think more about how much it actually costs the photographer for these companies to get free photos?
Just my tuppence worth.

I noticed the terms and conditions, and yes it did bother me a bit.

The image I sent them was the minimum size they allow (700ish pixels) - so they are a bit limited in what they do with it.

But then being more or less a newbie, I'm am really happy to have my picture on display to the world. And if they decide to use it elsewhere I'll just take the compliment

Good one, as soon as I saw the pic on the BBC I recognised it from here. I've had a couple published there too but I stopped submitting them after a while, for the same reason as others have mentioned.
