Yes
.....and ended up buying a Macbook Air!

Well following on from my thread yesterday about my Skyports not working I ventured to Maplin today to get a new battery to see if this was the problem. Gets to Maplin and not got any in stock. Fortunately there is a whole bunch of other shops on the same retail park so decided to try them out.

Next was PC world, no joy.... Curry's, still no joy....Goes into Comet and asked a bloke if they had any, and the answer again was no. However he was stood at the apple table and I noticed there was an apple expert there so whilst I was there I thought I would ask a quick question about a little problem I am having with my Mac Pro.

Just as I am talking to him he is pricing up a Macbook Air and reduced it from £950 to £750. Carried on talking and after a few mins he seemed like a top bloke so he said to me, if you want it then let me see if I can do anything else on this and off he goes. I thought he would come back with maybe a tenner or something off but no, he tells me I can have it for £650! I damned nearly snapped his hand off.

Only downside was that I cannot collect until tomorrow as it was 4.25pm, they shut in 5 mins and he wouldnt have time to box it up and sort it out so I reserved the thing and I collect it tomorrow first thing.

Okay so I spent a little more than the £3 I bargained for a battery but very pleased indeed with my bargain and subsequent purchase :)

ouch! very goodly price for a macbook air, but you clearly know that already ;)

very good buy ,wonder how can he can knock so much off,

did you get the batterys ? :)

I had a quick scout around when I got home just to make sure and there is nobody anywhere that can touch this price, especially when you consider that it will come with a 1 year warranty to me and I get another 2 years on top off my bank so well chuffed.

It was a display model but it was spotless, not a bloody mark on it anywhere. Normally wouldnt buy display but this was too good an opportunity to miss so the plastic took another kicking today. Just gotta sell me Windows Laptop now to fund it.... haha

I do know that places like Comet and Curry's will sometimes take a loss on items rather than be stuck with them. There is a newer model of the Macbook Air they are selling so the guy tells me they just wanted to shift this one and start with a fresh stock.

It is not the latest model but the spec is fine and dandy for me with a intel 1.6 dual processor and 2 gig ram. Only downside is the hard drive is 80 gig but I can probably get that upgraded if it becomes an issue.
