What 400mm plus lens for a Nikon D5300

My son is looking for a large zoom for taking pictures of wildlife deer / birds etc. any suggestions on a lens.

Also not sure what lens goes with what , currently he has a Sigma 18mm-300mm 3.5-6.3 which is fine but would like the further reach.

Seen a Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM C and a Sigma 150-500mm f/5-6.3 APO DG OS HSM is budget is £600 mark

Sigma 150-500 - plenty of them on eBay and various used dealers. About £400 on eBay in good condition.

Sigma 150-600 contemporary. May get a used one for around £600

I dont think the D5300 has AF fine tune so apart from any other reason go for the Sigma 150-600 C ,if its needed you can do the fine tune on the lens via the dock.
