Yes
Tried to clean my senor the other day. Took lens off, turned camera on, put it in cleaning mode and blasted it with rocket blower (camera upside down so that anything in there comes out) turned it off, put lens on. The same dust spot still remained (also cleaned both ends of lens) :bang:

Only seen it on long exposures at f22 though.

Am I doing something wrong?

Is the dust on your viewfinder or mirror, leave the mirror down and give it a blast

if your handy are shaking atm it might be worth subbing out though

also cleaning mine was one of the most stressful experiences of my life :p

Think I'd have to shell out, with how spaztastic I've been lately I'll break my camera :( (and yes I mean that literally, I spasm frequently, often with my stupid arms or legs flailing about). Can't see the dust through the viewfinder and cleaned mirror too ;) clean mirror almost every time I change lens tbh.

Any other Newcastle based members willing to clean Nat's sensor? Is Nat willing to let them?!

Also to warn Nat against contact cleaning the mirror - the mirror is first surface silvered, so the shiny bit you see is actually the coating and it's VERY thin and quite easy to damage. That can throw ot focussing (with AF), metering as well as being unsightly. A quick blast with a blower should be OK but be very careful (especially if it's a bad day) not to let anything touch the mirror.

I do admit that on a good day hand-wise my mirror had dust on, a tiny bit and the blower didn't get it and i had to use a cotton bud (q tip) to get it, was unbelieably fragile - too scared to put pressure on lol, but it stuck to the cotton.

Would I be prepaired to let someone clean my sensor?,...If I could watch them do thiers first lol

It isn't as scary as you think. I did mine on my 350D, just gave it a gentle wipe with a flat sable watercolour brush after blowing didn't remove the crud. Hey presto no dust bunnies.

I did that many yrs ago on a Canon 10d.. ended up with a thousand more dust spots.. it was everywhere :( Never tried since and prefer to pay a man 20 quid.. its a camera shop and anything goes wrong he sorts...and to be fair it doesnt get done that often :)

I have to be honest, if I had control over my hands like average Joe does, I wouldn't be bothered, but I don't have control over my hands anymore, most of the time I have to look at what they're doing, I have to make a concious effort thinking about what I'm doing when I move them and they have involentry movements and spasms of varying degrees. So I don't trust myself to do it TBH.

Will give the rocket blower another go though
