What are the best LP-E6 equivalents?

I need some spare batteries and I'm not forking out for any more genuine Canon LP-E6s because I already have four and the price is just ridiculous lately.

So I'm wondering what the best equivalents or clones are to buy? I see some of them referred to as "decoded" but I'm not sure what this means. I presume none of them will have the serial number system in them but, aside from that, are they all the same? Will they all charge in the original Canon charger?

Any advice/experience appreciated :)
 
Incidentally I just tried my two clones in the 5D3 grip for the first time (only ever used them in the 7D) and they don't work. The camera comes up with a warning about the batteries but lets me continue, but then the camera operation is very eratic.

I'm starting to wonder whether I should just cough up for another couple of genuine canon batteries - hideously expensive though :(
 
I cant recall buying a genuine manufacturers camera battery having always bought third party cheapies. Never had any problems in any of my canon camera with grips or the current ones I am using in my fuji. The only real drawback I can see is they require charging more often

Well I've read a few reports that one of the 5D3 firmware updates affected compatibility with some non-Canon batteries which is why I tried mine just now and sure enough they don't work.

I've just bitten the bullet and forked out £100 for a couple of Genuine ones - I simply can't afford to risk the camera failing due to battery problems in the middle of something important like a wedding!

The price is daylight robbery though and Canon should be ashamed of themselves.
 
I paid £35 for originals from MPB with 3 green bars and have had no problems.
 
The price seems to have sky-rocketed lately and most places have them at around £65. You can find them a bit cheaper if you shop around, just need to be careful of fakes.
 
I had problems with 3rd party batteries when I updated the firmware of my 5D3 and also when I tried them in my 70D. In the end I found someone who was willing to give me a good discount for a cash sale on 6 new genuine batteries so I bought them and haven't had a problem since. I've now got two pairs for each camera as both bodies always have grips on and I've not run out of power on any shoot I've had since.

I'll see if the guy I bought mine from has any more and if so I'll put a link to him on here later, I got mine for £40 each so it was quite an outlay but quite a saving too.
 
Cheers, would be handy although I've just bought a couple.

Use grips myself so the 7D and 5D3 need two each then another set as spares for a total of 8!
 
I previously got a couple for my 60D from 'PowerPlanet' on Amazon. They were fine in the 60D and have been fine in my 70D and 5D3, though since a firmware update on the 5D3 I get a warning about incompatibility which I acknowledge and which has no consequences.
 
I bought some Duracell LPE8's from Amazon, for my 600D. they outperform the Canon Originals e.g. they last more shots per charge than the canon originals
 
Genuine LP-E6 were going for about £35 for genuine batteries a few weeks back on amazon, currently they're at £45ish, you could always stick a wanted ad up on classifieds...I've got 8 genuines but I'm a bit of battery hoarder :lol:
 
Interestingly, have you seen the latest on Amazon - they've withdrawn them from sale themselves as some people reported even the ones from Amazon themselves weren't genuine.
 
I've got two 3rd party batteries, one is rated higher than the Canon version, the other is the same as Canon.
I have had no issues with either, and each cost around £10. I originally brought the first as a back up last year, but now I use it more than the Canon one, owing to the fact that the Canon one is not showing 100% health in my 5DMKIII.
In fact I find the Canon batteries seem to lose their health rating quicker than the 3rd party battlers I've had in both my 5D and my old 60D.

I've seen that a complaint had been made but at the time I heard it had not been confirmed they were fakes, what I can confirm is that the two I brought are perfect, and I'm 100% confident they're genuine canon, from the quality of the packaging to the look of the battery etc
 
Unfortunately the guy who sold me mine hasn't got any left at the moment. He's gone into phone batteries in a big way instead of camera ones.

I've had a nightmare with fake batteries, some of them are really convincing.

Just returned my 2nd fake one to a seller on eBay, who argued the toss that it was/is genuine.

My question is can you register the Baxxtaar ones to a 5DMKIII?

Not sue for 5d mark iii but you can on a 6d
