The grebe could be a red necked grebe. Unusual in the UK but one turned up on my local reservoir a few days ago and as far as I know is still there. I'll try to get out there tomorrow,

Following on from the discussion above about Michalene's 'is it or isn't it a little grebe' this IS a red necked grebe. My apologies for the poor quality - it is just a record shot of the first one I've seen in very challenging light. Shutter speed too low because the iso was as high as my camera will go, and my camera does not like high iso. This bird has been on my local reservoir for several days now and is looking well settled, so it might stay for a while.
