Yes
My brother looking to buy a new camera, he's new to photography but wants to get into it. I've recommended he buys a bridge camera. However I can't recomend any bridges myself because I've never really owned one or looked into them.

So what would you recomend?

Any of the top end Fuji or Panasonic models.

Panasonic Lumix FZ-38 at about £230 or Fuji HS10 at about £325 from Amazon.
Both very good bridge cameras (I have a HS10 for holiday snaps), the HS10 has a much longer zoom range and works very similarly to a DSLR albeit with a bit of shutter lag!

Thanks for those who posted, think we're going to look at the HS10 a bit closer.

It really depends what his budget is and what he wants to photograph. Does he want partial manual control, or full manual control, long zoom, wide angle capabilities, low light capabilities. What size camera does he want, pocket or small SLR compact.

I would back the Fuji. Hate to say it, but Nikon's bridges are pretty cr**
