Just a quick one that has been bugging me for years, took this photo of one of my relatives in May 2008 with my old Lumix and could never work out what camera he was using, its always had me stumped, as the only number visable appers to be a 5 but the only model available then would have been the 5D but the lens is an 18-55 ef-s kit lens????

Looks like an `E` (EOS 600D?)

500D dial on the camera right looking at back of camera is the only one that matches. Check the canon museum. Matt
 
Clues:

- the number 4 bottom right, partially obscured by palm

- moulding line at the bottom of the body, which the 450D does not have

e2a: The 400D was launched in 2006
 
yep i agree, i was convinced it was a 5, thats what was confusing me, but looking at a ppicture of the 400d i can see its a 4 and the bit below must be part of the D in digital.
Thanks guys, thats been bugging me since I first decided to get my 40d lol
