What card reader?

My big daft dog decided to eat my card reader so I need a new one. Hopefully a cristmas present in the making! I havn't got usb 2 on my computer, Could anyone please recommend a good/fast card reader please? Thanks Guys and Gals.
 
I use 2 different lexar card readers which i am very happy with and would recommend:
1) Lexar Professional USB-3 Dual which takes SD and CF (Fleabay link as an example)
2) Lexar reader and Lexar Multi-card 25in1, which shall take also take pretty much any cards (Fleabay link as an example)

They are connected via a single USB-3 cable, both pretty inexpensive around £20-£25 and can transfer data pretty quick.
I prefer using #1 i think it is margninally quicker (although this may just be in my head :thinking:), plus its about 2/3rd the size of the other one which fits in your bag easier for want to take it on your travels :)

Why not add a 3.5 bay card reader, should be simple to connect up and cheap to buy from "fleabay" but 1st do a simple research on the interweb thingy.

Ahh i think i misread the original message, no usb2 which i read it as he doesnt have 2 USB (slots) :bang:.

As Neil says, If you dont have even USB2 then i dont suppose it shall matter too much which card reader you buy, as the data transfer shall be restricted by the serial bus not the card reader.
 
I bought an internal Transcend expansion PCI-card with two SATA3 internal connectors and two USB3 external sockets.
To one of those, I've connected a Lexar USB3 dual card reader. Highly recommended.

Only "minus" is the tilting up/down lid, which can cause the usb cable to come loose...

Question for Mike (MoysieWRX), how long is the usb lead on the Lexar USB 3.0 card reader?
 
Just checked the reader there, the USB3.0 cable is around 1m long.

I would highly recomend using these card readers, they are quick, pretty nice looking, easily portable and at only £20-25 you definitely cant go wrong

I've a Sandisk Card reader and am very happy with it, the Lexar readers get a very good following as well. Personally, I wouldn't buy a cheap reader...

If you haven't got USB2 on your PC, this is going to limit the speed of download...
 
I also use a Kingston FCR-HS3, which has a USB3 interface, works quickly and never had a problem
