That's what my 40D did when the shutter was on its way out.
How are you transfering the images? Plugging the card into a reader or plugging the USB into the side of the camera? Which ever one your doing try the other.
How long after the transfer are you unplugging the memory card/cable?
This to me looks like its corrupting the image because its being unplugged before its completed the transfer.
The reason i say this, i get this problem with a crap memory stick every time if i just pull it out. I have to eject it fully via the icon on the system tray (windows) to make sure.
I hope it's not your shutter either, that would just suck big time.
Are you sure it's happening on transfer?
I had a few problems like this when importing RAW images into Lightroom. Re-importing usually sorted it out.
I had this a few years ago with my first camera, a Samsung compact.
Turned out to be the memory card, not a single photo from the trip was correct![]()
I see this a lot at work, I live in a town with a large elderly population with cheap point & shoot cameras and equally cheap memory cards. 99% of the time, the problem lies with the cheap memory card. They never learn, I've seen one customer twice with this problem now. I advised buying a proper branded memory card like sandisk, kingston, lexar, whatever. But no, they came back with an even more flimsy card than before :bang:
I'm not suggesting you have a cheap card, just speaking of my experiences with exactly the same problems!
Did you see full image on the camera before downloading it?
when you down load are you keeping the images on the card till you checked them? if so check the card image on camera....
I had this with some old shots on my Finepix F450 years and years ago. It only happened after my hard drive had gone kaput though; I ran a recovery programme and got all my old photos back, but some of them were corrupted in the same way as your pic.
Or, of course, it could be your camera's in-built 'leg censor sensor'![]()

you haven't changed, have you!!!and groan - that was just awfulyou haven't changed, have you!!!

Yes it was, Neil, they's just missed a goal so I was firing off a burst to get the disappointment
I seriously doubt it is shutter - you get a very similar effect when a shutter is failing but that is partial exposure of the frame and yours is definitly not that.
