What Cokin filters

Hi, I have just acquired a Cokin P filter holder and adaptor ring.

I wish to use it with my my 24-105 for landscape work with a view to improving the sky whilst maintaining a good balance with the land.

I think I need graduated natural density grey filters but I am confused as there seems to be ND2, 4, and 8 then each are offered in normal hard and soft???

I have funds to buy 3 at present what would you recommend to cover all bases so to speak as a starter pack.

Have a look at Hitech Filters, ND Grad 0.6, and 0.9 hard, which cost approx £12.50 each, and most folk find them better than cokin filters. The Hitech 85 filters will fit a Cokin P holder.

2, 4 and 8 are the filter strength. That's one stop, two, then three. Hard and soft refer to how sharp the boundary is between clear and tinted sections. Hard are good for really flat horizons, seas etc. Soft are more general purpose.
