I need to buy a compact digital soon, as our old sony one is messed up i think.....when you take a picture, it has all sorts of blue/green/multi colour lines through it when viewing... :gag:

I've seen the Canon S95 - looks to have good reviews but is a little on the pricey side.....at around £300....

I'm hoping to spend around £200 on a compact...

What do people recommend?

It will be be mainly used to take pics of the little one indoors and also taken on random outings :)
 
I'd definitely recommend the Panasonic TZ series of camera's.

I use an older TZ3 and it really does produce lovely photo's. You have a great Leica zoom lens, image stabilisation and a very good video mode on the newer models. I think on the TZ10 you can even data tag the images with your location. The camera has a built in GPS data logger or similar.

I may well replace my TZ3 soon and will definately replace it with another TZ series.
 
I'd also recommend the Panasonic TZ's! I've got the TZ5 and it's one of the best camera's (Apart from my DSLR) I've ever bought. I've taken it to many a concert and got some great results with the 10x zoom.
 
Panasonic Lumix LX5, about the same price as an S95 but I think it's a nicer camera

Thanks Allan, just had a look, looks fairly decent to me....but a bit over the price of the S95...

LX5 is going for around £350 whereas the S95 goes for £300ish..
