So, you've got a hard drive full of photos you've taken. What do you do with them? Do you print them out, give them to friends/family, sell them?

I've sold two, printed out fifteen, the rest sit on my hard drive or on Flickr.

nothing so far. I dont want to do anything with them until i have a good portfolio then i think i might delete everything but the best and go from there...

Its hard to say but ive only just re taken up photography so i only have 6 months worth of pics and even then i was on crutches for half that time so i cant imagine what someone does with 20 years worth of photos

I print them on rice paper and eat them.

If I keep taking pictures at this rate I shall be very very fat.

Seriously though, like you: sold a few, given a few, really enjoy the one's around the house.

I am only 30 and do have a huge issue of what to do with my photos from the last 20 years... Yip I picked up my first SLR at the tender age of ten!

Most are on film/ slide... as I only converted to digital 1 year ago.

My first move is a cull of all rubbish images... Im halfway through that...

Then I will scan all decent images in for prosperity and so I can use them digitally.

Then will finally update my flickr page...

Then when the fiancee and I get married and we have a bigger house... put some on the wall.

And finally i'd like to do a few... not loads of albums of my work....

The problem arrises that I tend to produce more images of a weekend rather than deal with my backlog... Im not really into sitting to much in front of the computer... but i know it has to be done... I much prefer being out and about with the camera!

So yeh... I guess thats my strategy... And the thing behind it that drives me is that I want others to see and appreciate my images.... might try selling some on ebay... but that has just this instant came into my mind... and already thinking i'd prob make a loss!

At the end of last year I whittled the junk out until I had just enough to fill a DVD with 3 copies of each ... Untouched raw, processed raw and reduced size for web jpg. I'll do that at the end of every year then review to hopefully see the improvement.

Mine are sat on my HD like a giant pile of trash.

My 'goal' for this year is to produce enough 'reasonable' shots to get a photobook done at the end of the year. I'll then probably keep the digital version of those on my HD and backuped up, and archive the rest onto an external HD...

...to be tossed in a drawer much like an old pair of undies that you no longer wear as your balls hang out of the holes, but you just don't want to get shot of because they used to be really comfortable and in some twisted way you think they may well become wearable again... one day.

yep, i got a hard drive full and that bout it, i need to spend less time on TP and more time sorting them

Most of my undies are like that.

I give my pics as presents to friends and family, decorate my house with them and sell them at craft fairs in various sizes mounted. Not a millionaire yet but you have to start somewhere :)

same as most, sold a few, printed a few, entered a few into club comps etc

as for storing, they're all sat on my EXT HD and REALLY need backing up!!!!!

I've got them stored in seperate folder in year->month->day so easier to find them later on etc :)

I print my favourite photos and put them on the wall at home, I sell some of my photos at a local restaurant, last year I did a photobook as a portfolio to show people, and have some of my photos on my website, my website is like my online portfolio lol :).

I try to keep them organised on my laptop, I have a wifi home network so if I want to show them to family and friends when they pop round I use my PS3 to show them on my samsung 40 inch 1080p LCD. The HD tv makes them look fantastic.

:nikon:

I also post a few on flickr

Hard drive houses most of them in an un-organised fashion. Some on flickr. Sold one on fotila (whoot), got a couple printed and hanging in the hall, and one large canvas of a rose for my wife. Thank god its not film or i would be seriously skint already.

Anything decent of mine goes up on Flickr, with my hard drive as a backup. I do a lot of sorting when I transfer to my PC, and get rid of anything blurred/OOF/I don't like/beyond rescue. I think I'll get a photobook done at the end of this season too, I'd like a nicely presented form for say 150 of my favourite images.

The majority of my pics are stuck on a hard drive (or 2) or in a box in a cupboard/loft. A few are printed up and on walls though; not as many as I would like but there isn't an awful lot of wall space here! I've sold a few prints over the years and given more away to family and friends. I think a few of the sold ones are on walls and I know several of the freebies are at least framed.

TBH, I would like more of them to be printed but I'm a harsh critic on myself so a pic needs to be a bit special to get printed and even more special to get printed big and hung on my wall.

The majority of my photos are stuck on a broken computer ... at least I hope they are!

I always have a big clear out at the end of the year and take my pictures off the computer and put them onto CD. I send some as Christmas pressies, make a calendar for family and sell a few too.

sat on the hd like most peoples

i think i printed about 20 or 30 of my own shots last year but if you knew how many i shot...

this year i intend to sell alot of photos and buy new kit

md:thumbs:

I cull everything oof etc, and keep everything else.

A few years ago I deleted whoel folders I thought I would never look at again, I miss some of those photos.

Then again, 90% of my photos act as memories, not technical excercises.

Mine are also sat on a hdd in my server. Got about the last 3 years or so archives on there. Dont really print many but thats going to change as i want to enjoy my work in print hanging on the wall. Also a good idea already suggested is a photo book to be printed off!
Would like to sell some more images too to contribute towards new gear!
