When buying a 2nd hand body?

I am looking to purchase a Canon 5d mk1 and I was wondering what the do's and dont's are when purchasing 2nd hand.

How many photos is the norm for a camera such as this and if a camera has done more than 1000 shots is that too much, and why?

What else do you look for apart from it being worn etc?

Any help would be mucho appreciated. Great forum btw.

Not even run in at that figure and you will be very lucky to find a MK1 with so few clicks on it

The ones with a serial number starting at 2 or higher have a slightly better screen. The earlier ones have a colour cast to them but the screens are just about good enough to check histogram and blown highlights so doesn't make much difference. Worth checking if its had the mirror fix but its free to get done if not. They're great cameras though. I have one and am now looking for a mark 2 to go with it.
