When I was watching the cricket over the weekend I saw the pro toggers have a device on their hot shoes about the size of a matchbox with an aerial on it. It is obviously not a flash-related device, anyone know what it is and, more importantly, do I need one :lol:
 
It obviously works then because I instantly decided I needed one.

Technically it could be, it'll be a Pocket Wizard, which can be used to control either a remote camera, or an off-camera flash.....
 
Wifi transmitter? Can't say I've seen many hot shoe mounted ones, but you never know.
 
Was it a News International tog - then its a covert device to hack into mobile phones

And he wasn't actually using a camera, it was laptop components squeezed into an old camera body, with a direct feed of phone numbers into an Excel spreadsheet and voicemail messages being recorded into Audacity or something :lol:

I do definitely need one then! The good lady wife is often receiving covert messages (as well as beaming others, mainly about excessive wine consumption). Off to Argos now..
I actually thought it must be a wireless tranmitter of some sort but thought you could get a type of memory card that would do that.
