What Filter kit?

Hi everyone, this is my first post so i'll make it short. I have a Canon 5D Mrk ii and I'd like to get a filter system for my lenses. I don't mind having to spend some money to get the best system for my lenses so any advice would be much appreciated.

lee foundation kit + adapter ring of size you need

I wasn't convinced until reading advice here and now I think its one of the best investments I ahve made to date :)
 
Either the Lee Foundation kit if you can find one or the Hitech system from Formatt Filters... I use a combination of both. I have the Lee Foundation kit with the 77mm wide angle adapter and a 67-77mm step up ring for my other lenses.

My filters are a mixture of Lee (Big Stopper), Hitech 100mm and 100x150mm and a set of Cokin Z-Pro filters too.

I got the Lee DSLR starter kit for Christmas and am planning on building up my lee filters. They are so good. I couldn't really justify buying Lee when I first got into photography but now i'm swapping all my other filters over so that i'm on the one system. The quality of lee is fantastic. My basics that I use regularly are polariser, nd and nd grad.
 
Lee without hesitation. It always works out cheaper to just buy the right thing first rather than working your way up. The price hurts, the delays can be frustrating but there will never be a day when you'll either regret buying or wish for something better.
 
I use the Lee foundation kit with Hi tech filters but I am lucky to have Lee 10 stopper. Eventually it would be good to Lee grads but I've no complaints on the Hi tech grads that I've got!

anywhere I can buy this lee starter kit from?

I've searched everywhere and they keep coming back with different results for the lee kit.

I don't want to get a fake :(

This is my philosophy on all such purchases these days (having spent years learning it the hard way :'().

I have the Hi-Tech filters and Cokin holders. The filters scratch easily, but if you're careful with them they do a pretty good job. The holders, on the other hand, can be a bit of a nuisance. My first Cokin P one 'wore out' after just a dozen or so trips out and wouldn't fit tightly over the adapter ring any more - it used to ping off the camera, mid-exposure :bang:. My top tip for avoiding this particular problem is to buy the double filter holder (which has a much more secure fitting to the adapter ring :)) and simply saw the front part of the holder off (filing the edges smooth afterwards), so that it becomes a single filter holder again (avoiding the vignetting problems of the double holder :naughty:).

If you buy the Lee kit, you'll never have to worry about 'creative fixes' like these and you'll never have a 3 minute exposure (at the crucial point of a sunrise/set :() ruined by the filter springing off the camera and you not noticing it until the end of the exposure :bang:!!!!
