Hi all, im lucky enough to be able to take my DSLR gear tomorrow to radio 1, but im real stuck as to what to take, i want to get great pics but I dont want to lug around tons of stuff as it will be hot and crowded, I have the following to choose from:

Canon 1Dmk2
Canon 5D (gripped or ungripped)
24-70L
canon 28-105 3.5-4.5 MKII
70-300IS
Sigma 15-30
Flash Metz AF58-1

Now, most of the time its in day light however the big stage tents are reasonably dark-ish (not to bad however ISO1000 gets 60/sec at f3.5 - was there today)

Now do I just lug it all there ? which after trying that today on a walk about was incredibly heavy, espec the mk2 + 24-70L combo, however the low light focus speed on the mk2 was awesome.

OR do I just ungrip my 5D take that - but at the cost of worst autofocus.

Lens wise I think the 24-70 and 70-300 are a must, but there is a part of me pondering if just take the 28-105 and 70-300, MUCH lighter, however the lens is slower....SO STUCK, hmmm im on the fence the 24-70 is faster and optically awes but heavyyy

What would you do ?

Oh yeah ill also be taking other stuff like normal festival going gear, wellies, lol, perhaps a sit mat of some sort etc so dont wanna be loaded up loads. hellppsss

would go with the 24-70mm and 70-300mm
If you are using flash then the AF assist will help you greatly if you are worried about AF

As above!

Not sure whether I'd take the 5D or the 1D......... probably the 5D to save on weight, but that's down to your preference really!

also just looked at your webiste

Its not fair... I want to go. :'( :( :'(

the bodies are the hard choice - speed or quality, given that 1) speed would be useful to capture in mid song etc, and 2) quality, as you said, the tents are a little dark.

I'd go for the 1D 2, and make sure you post some piccies up! :)

You could take me instead!
I've tried the last 3 years to get tickets, and entered all the phone-in comps and never succeeded :(

Sounds like you've got the kit sorted now! Have fun, and I wanna see the end results!

i would think a 24-70 would be fine if you've got access to the pit etc in terms of length. I've done a couple of shows before and apart from one or two shots the 24-70 did all the work. a wide angle might come in handy though.

24-70 would be good if you had pit access, or were battling for the front. I'd take the 15-30 for really impressive wide angles, and the 70-300 for the majority of shots. Not a vast distance between them.

Couple of teaser pics :p :
