Hi,

never used a graphics tablet before and was wondering what you would recommend on price+ease of use. The 'Wacom Bamboo Fun' seems to have everything tht I'm looking for but would like to hear people's advice/opinions/suggestions. I will be mainly be editing photos and images in Photoshop. Thanks.

I have a sympodium, it's a tablet that has a screen on it so I don't have to look at a different screen to where my pen is, can heartedly recommend it!

I use a Genius G-Pen 712, good value imho

I use a Wacom Bamboo myself but they are all pretty good with one important proviso, you need to make an effort to use them and persevere even if it's awkward at first.

I've got a Wacom Bamboo Pen, would have preferred the pen & touch as I'm used to the multi touch track pad on my MacBook, but it was a present so can't complain!

Wacom Intuios3 9x11" works very well but the mouse that comes with it is pointless so if you go down this route buy it without the mouse! Works fantastically well in my opinion.

Hmm, might look into the Wacom Bamboo Pen and Touch myself.

I've always been interested in trying a tablet out and that one is cheap enough to give them a shot - although I might still look on eBay for cheaper!! :D

Wacom Intuios here and as Cowasaki says throw the mouse away or don't buy it. worse than useless imo.

Bamboo Fun Medium (A5) for me - it replaced the Graphire4 (A6) and I'll agree that bigger is not always better. I kind of miss the smaller A6 pad

To add I can't remember the last time I used a mouse at home!!! It really is that good.

I have never had or even tried a tablet, heard great things about them but never really had the push to buy one.

Wacom Bamboo for me, great to use, would never go back to a mouse now.:)

i tried a tablet but the eye to hand coordination needed was too much, I like to pen a pen down on the actual screen i'm looking at and not have to look up and put my pen down, thats where the screen tablets like my sympodium really come in handy

Just to show accuracy - try writing your signature using a mouse...... Almost impossible to do well.n With a pen and tablet, very simple!

I've been looking at an Intuos... can I get one of the old ones with a serial connection to save some dosh (I already have a serial to USB converter) or is it worth buying one of the later models?

What are you using it for? If you want to do some serious art then an ntuos is the way to go. For basic image editing, the bamboo P&T would be a great choice.

I've used an Intuos4 and for what I do, I couldn't see much difference. The pen was slightly nicer but the Bamboo pen is fine :)

Just got the Bamboo Pen yesterday - first impressions are good. fast and accurate editing in photoshop/illustrator.

currently using a wacom intuitos 3. model: ptz-930.
cost me a fiar bit when it first came out but i think the price has come down a bit since.
I absolutely love it... i used to have an a5 pad and moving up to a4 was such a good move.

My father has the Wacom cintique 12wx for drawing and it is a dream to use...but i think a grand is best spent on lenses and such!

I struggled with the Bamboo Pen at first and still dont use it for general browsing of the web etc but for photo editing I am finding it heaps better than the mouse.

How are you geting on with yours?

Wacom Intuos 3 A5, the tablet, hot keys and pen are awesome, the mouse isn't.

Just picked up the Bamboo Pen & Touch. Went for this as i love the multi touch on the Macbook Pro. Give it a quick go, so far not too bad, not as good as the Mac's multi touch but hand when working at desk with hooked up to monitor. As for the pen think i need a bit of practice with this when i've got a bit of time as i really don't just want to put it to one side to gather dust like i did with the last cheap tablet i had.
