Hi,
I need some help lol I just bought a sigma 85 1.4, I already have a nikon 24-70 but I can only keep one. Do I sell the nikon and buy another wide angle prime? I shoot with a D700, it's normally at 24 or 70 with the nikon hardly between. Why did I buy the sigma haha
 
Yep those 1.4 primes are a slippery slope! The next step is sell the 24-70 and get the 24 1.4, and another body to leave it on... ££££
 
35mm is a nice focal length to go with the 85mm ;)

35G / 1.4, or ZF2 35 / 1.4 or ZF2 35 / 2 :D

That's what I was worried about lol, I don't know much about the 24 1.4. Hmmm I best go google it lol

I like 24 or wider for landscapes. I'm sure the 35G is way out my price range lol

I had not noticed that you have a crop body, I used to have a 35mm on my D300 most of the time as a walk about.

Zeiss do a 25mm f2.8 ZF2, manual focus but not an issue for landscape, lovely lens.
 
Why can you only keep one?

Sorry I need to update that, I'm shooting with D700.
 
What are your impressions of the Sigma? I've often said to myself that I could manage with one of those and not bother with a zoom, yet there are always shots that need something wide (and fast). So then I come back around to the 24-70, which really is not wide enough sometimes. And then there's the weight... My second body carries a 70-200, which is also heavy... I read similar reports on the 24mm 2.8, good, but not great. I have a Tamron 17-35 (good but slow AF), and a Sigma fisheye, but try to avoid changing lenses whenever possible due to missing shots during the swap.
 
sell the 85 1.4, get a 50 1.4 & a second hand Ai-S manual focus, the 105f2.5 is supposed to be good, perhaps even get a Ai-s 20mm / 24mm?
