Are you talking about the original 50-500 or the newer OS version. I would say 50-500 OS, as first choice then 150-500. I used the 150-500 for three years great lens.
 
I'm guessing you mean the non OS 50-500mm vs. the 150-500mm OS as they're pretty closely matched on price. I'd opt for the 150-500 but if your budget is elastic the 50-500 OS is meant to be superb.
 
I've got a Sigma 150-500 OS and I'm very pleased with it so far. I'd put it about on a par with the Canon 100-400 when both at their longest. The Canon about nicks it on IQ but the Sigma is better stabilized. Not used a 50-500 either version, but I have read lots of reviews and seen the photos from it and they look very good too.
