That they (you) are waiting to shoot when stood on a motorway bridge looking at the traffic?

I drive oop and down the M6 alot, and there is always someone lurking on a bridge, with a camera, looking up (or down) the carriageway, waiting for something.

Is it a special club that you can join, or can someone let me in on the secret, so I can decide firstly if they are mad or not, and secondly whether it is worth me joining them.

Ta:cuckoo:

Lorry spotters? Such things do exist, I believe.

Indeed they do! There was an article on The One Show the other week about wide/large load spotters!

Incidentally, the other day, I was just turning onto the A1 and noticed a chap with brown cords on waiting on a bridge with a camera! Got a coupe of miles up the road and sure enough, there was a wide load having a stop off in a lay by!

At night you can get cool light trails with a long exposure.

Ive heard of "eddie" spotters, they look out for the eddie stobart trucks!

Is it because they're using Bridge cameras? :coat:

I can understand it at night, trials etc, but wide load spotting, seriously.

Train spotters can at least say i saw the rare mkIII diesel number 786530 as it cam out of wolverhampton the other day.

But wide load spotting: yep a saw a big lorry reg LK51OUL with a massive dumper truck on the back Awesome!! As for taking a picture of it, what you gonna do with that........stick it on the wall, some kind of wide load porn??

This. To do the job properly you have not only to spot them, but also to record their names and registration numbers. It's a bit like train spotting I guess.

Failing that, it's the Police and you've just been done for speeding. :p

Driving down a motorway traffic was halted when a herd of cows started crossing the road. There was a bridge just behind us with someone who had a camera. I always wanted to see that photo he must have taken!

There is two large stobart bases near here, so why waste time watching on a bridge, just park outside the gates and get them all as they go in and out. Or is that cheating??

I have wondered if it is people togging birds of prey, cause they hunt the verges??

You've never been down the beach at Weymouth then? :D

I did a geography field trip to weymouth a few years ago, when at uni. I beleive that is a different kind of wide load spotting, and, I would imagine (well rather not imagine) there is plenty of interent coverage for that particular sport.
