David Hobby's blog/venture into using off camera flash.

It is an American term...

What we call FLASH they call STROBES...

So as he plays with off camera flash(strobes) he is called the STROBIST...

So I guess here in UK he'd be a Flasher?

[markw08]

Try putting that on your CV...

Haha Brilliant.

[Woblee]

More chance of the 'strobist' getting qestioned than the 'flasher'

[LASTOLITE]

You just can't say I'm a Flasher-ist and keep a streight face - so Strobist was invented so you can talk at parties

[AndyWest]

The whole Strobist thing is really about using a flash Off Camera which is the real theme / technique behind the term and the blog / website ....

So in Bracketing terms, that would be Under < Indecent > Over...
